After retiring from the Army, his father continued his commitment to public service as a magistrate in Virginia’s 19th Judicial Circuit in Fairfax County, administering justice at the local level with the same discipline he carried in uniform.

She became the first Latina Civil Marriage Celebrant in the region and served as the first bilingual Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court in Prince William County, conducting hundreds of marriage ceremonies across the Commonwealth, including some within the family home itself.
